The two reports that follow describe "acute" situations in which the chief complaint was a strong desire to kill. Obviously, this type of problem can't be approached as simply and directly as an acute like diarrhea or epistaxis or ankle pain... But both of these men had come to see me at other people's urging, so there wasn't really time for long and searching interview or study of the case.
